The Art of Print Mixing. A Styling Session with e. Allen Boutique.

Last week we posted about our amazing styling session with Stacey Rhodes Boutique in Brentwood, Tn. (If you missed it check it out here!)  Today we are featuring e. Allen, a boutique dedicated to providing their customer with stylish separates that help them make the most out of their wardrobe. (They do styling too!)  e. Allen has a gorgeous location in the Gulch area as well as the flagship location in Murfreesboro.

When stepping inside e. Allen for the first time on an exceptionally windy day in Nashville I could tell that presentation as well as merchandise must be important to the owner.  The shop was decorated beautifully.  Large windows covered one wall of the shop making a bright and airy space, perfect for showcasing Sevier Skirts along with e. Allen merchandise.

Rachel, the sales manager and I had so much fun pairing tops and accessories with some of our favorite Sevier Skirts.  We realized that we both loved mixing prints and creating unexpected looks with separates.  All though we styled some of the same skirt patterns as our last session with Stacey Rhodes Boutique the outcomes were completely different.  The versatility of our Sevier Skirts is one of many reasons our customers love our product.  It is so easy to use one skirt for two completely different looks.

Checkout our outfits below!

For our first look we chose a lime green embroidered large daisy print sleeveless top with our Hot Tamale Skirt in blue.  This is what we call pattern mixing!  Even though we used different shapes and colors it works because the hues are both in the same bright color family.  Both patterns have similar spacing and color to white balance which also allows these pieces to work together so beautifully!  We added a statement necklace with the same bright blue as our skirt to tie everything together.
Outfit Details:  Lime Blouse, Blue, lime pendant necklace, Hot Tamale Skirt

We kept the colors pretty similar to one another for our second look.  The loose peach blouse complements the soft greens and vibrant stripes of our Karma Stripe Skirt.  Again, we decided to add a little pattern mixing with a floral scarf in similar colors to add some depth to this outfit.  Both the scarf and the skirt feature a smaller pattern which allows them to work beautifully together!
Outfit Details:  Peach Brynn top, Floral print infinity scarf, Karma Stripe Jacquard Skirt

This outfit became one of my personal favorites.  We paired our Blush Sequins Skirt with e. Allen's chambray bomber jacket, light bright white tank, and floral statement necklace.  The outcome is a casual outfit that seamlessly goes from a day out and about to dinner and drinks.  I would wear this outfit everyday if I could!  I love the casual look of chambray with a bit of elegant sparkle.  Plus, how spring ready is this look?  Perfection.
Outfit Details:  French Connection Penny Plains v-neck tank,  bella dahl river bomber jacket, Elizabeth Cole pendant necklace with pink kites, blush sequin skirt.

Thank you so much to e.  Allen for letting us team up with your shop to create these beautiful looks! Check them out online here or visit them at either of their two locations:

SOW: Corvina Black

Who says a LBS(little black skirt) has to be plain black?  A LBS has one requirement-it must be easy to outfit.  It has to be a go-to for any occasion.  The Corvina Black is this weeks SOW, and your soon to be LBS.

This beautifully painted velvet skirt is a medium weight fabric, perfect for the winter.  The painted bronze gives this skirt a certain shine, while the green adds an unexpected touch.
Skirt of the Week
I wanted a chic outfit for this chic skirt.  To begin, I looked for a black top with a little edge.  This eyelet shoulder embellishment did just the trick.  I love this faux fur jacket to add mystery and a touch of old Hollywood charm to your outfit.  Any pair of black pumps will do, I went with a sleek pair of booties and a contrast maroon clutch.

Wear this outfit somewhere fabulous, and feel a little famous while you’re at it ;)

How WE wear white for fall!

Last week I explained why you SHOULD wear white after Labor Day.  Made up fashion rules are meant to be broken by those who can pull it off!  If you missed last weeks break-down, the only rules are keep the winter whites an appropriate fabric.  Thats it in a nut shell, now lets move on :)

As I was scrolling through Instagram (yes, we are on Instagram.  More on that later) I caught a picture of Ashley styling the Jax-White.  What an AMAZING look!!  It's the perfect example of correctly wearing white in the cooler months.
While we sold out of the Jax a season ago, another great option is the Naomi.  The white or ivory will work for this look.  I love the texture for fall, giving the look more substance than a thin cotton skirt.  Below, I re-created Ashley's look...
Wednesday Whites!
Gray peplum sweater+Naomi Ivory+Frye Boots+leather cuff=Effortless Fall!

With a solid white skirt, you can choose any color sweater up top.  I love the contrast of the sturdy riding boots with the feminine skirt.  You can wear this cozy outfit anywhere!

SOW: Corvina Burnt Orange!

Some skirts are made for work, some for play.  This weeks SOW is made to be worn out and shown off.  This hot number is whats missing from your next date.  The Corvina Burnt Orange is 20% off this week only.  Its not just the deal thats red hot!

This beautifully painted burnt orange velvet is a medium to heavyweight fabric, perfect for the cooler months.  The burnt orange/red backdrop is sultry and warm with a fresh lime and bronze playful paisley print pattern.  The Corvina comes in a Pencil and Classic.
Velvet Fall
I dressed the Corvina above for your next date night option.  The Corvina speaks loud enough for one outfit to handle.  No need to over-do it up top.  I suggest keeping the top simple with a black, ivory, white, brown, or other neutral color shirt.  I love the soft textured velvet with a contrasting smooth leather, so I went for a simple leather jacket.  Black and brown are two of my favorite colors to wear together so I picked mostly brown accessories to go with the black top.

Booties are all the rage this season.  To change it up, I picked this wooden stiletto heel bootie with a peep toe and buckle.  For any of the items above, click the icons below for pricing and further shopping!

SOW:Paper Lantern Black!!

This SOW is comfort and style at its best.  The Paper Lantern's are a great staple piece and this week the Paper Lantern Black is on sale 20% off!

I love the Paper Lanterns for their timeless appeal and soft comfort feel.  This Italian brocade has a little stretch to her making her perfect for a Pencil, Swing or Classic.  If you are buying for a casual get-around-town skirt, opt for a swing.  For work or a nice occasion, go for the straight styles!  I wore this skirt in a pencil during the sale and was stunned by its slim factor.  When cut for a pencil or classic, the lanterns run vertically, making you lean and long!
Sevier Skirt of the Week

I love the way the girls styled this one.  I went with their look, only I brought it into summer with this sleeveless kelly green blouse.  I love the pop of color.  When picking a top for this look, go for anything you would a black skirt.  Don't be afraid to mix it up with a coordinating print!

If you keep the top a solid color, try to incorporate a print somewhere.  I like this clutch by Liberty of London with a floral motif!

SOW:Nepal Indigo!!

Confession:  I stole this weeks SOW look from Kate Hudson.  Confession #2:  I'm not sorry about it!  This weekend, as I was perusing pinterest for DIY's that I'd never attempt, I stumbled upon this gem of an outfit!  Kate Hudson, you have never looked better!  With that, I had to go with the Nepal Indigo as our Skirt of the Week!

I have been waiting to spotlight this skirt since she came out!  She is one of my favorites!!  The base is a medium-heavy weight cotton ikat print with a blind hem.  Want to feel skinny?  The structure to this skirt is outstanding, so she will keep you in nice and tight!
Mixed Prints
As soon as I found this photo of Kate Hudson, I knew I wanted to create an outfit just like it.  Mixed prints are still in,  Kate nailed this trend!  If you are new to wearing mixed prints, this look is a great place to start.  Mixed prints have enough going on, so I love that she went with a monochromatic color scheme.  I nabbed the same exact shirt from Ann Taylor.  The light blue of the blouse is a nice refreshing color.  Keep the shoes plain and navy to go with the skirt.

Not into mixed prints?  No problem, a plain Michael Stars top will do the trick.  I love coral, magenta, reds, orange and yellow with this skirt!

SOW: Olympia Hot Pink

Last week I had a special request for a pink skirt for the SOW to support Breast Cancer Awareness month.  Thank you so much for that reminder.  For the remainder of October, lets keep this topic a recurring theme, shall we?

For starters, this weeks SOW is the Olympia Hot Pink.  This is a great year round skirt.  With a blind hem, it is one of our fancy skirts so I dressed her up below!
SOW
Breast cancer mostly affects women so I made this look extra feminine.  Peplum tops are great for women with no natural curve.  They give the illusion of a small waist and curvy hips.  There is nothing more feminine than an hourglass silhouette.  I like the minimal mixed print look I have going on with the leopard scarf.

Coming up this month, I will unveil our official Breast Cancer Awareness skirt, have an interview with one of our own breast cancer survivors and bring you breast cancer awareness tips along the way.  Want to share your breast cancer story?  Whether you were personally affected or a loved one was, I want to hear your story.  Please email me at cpostell@sevierskirts.com to be featured this month.  In our community of women, the least we can offer one another is moral support, advice, and words of inspiration.  Have a great Monday!!

SOW: Candy Striper

This weeks SOW was a shop favorite this season.  Every employee had a different vision of what kind of look to get out of the Candy Striper.  That is why this versatile skirt is so special!  This is a light to medium weight cotton.  It's heavier than a lot of our thinner cottons so it does excellent in all three styles.  I love it in a swing with the stripes going diagonally!  In an a-line and pencil the stripes are going vertically.
I really love navy with red and white.  I think it looks sophisticated.  Of course black looks amazing with this skirt as well.  The colors are slightly muted so its not a in-your-face bright red and white.  Its actually off white that your working with.  This is perfect for the 4th of July as well!
Candy Striper
I say pair this with a fun silver bangle, colorful shoes and call it a day!
