Wear What You Want

Fashion and clothing myths are everywhere these days.  The media, models, high profile professionals, and celebs all tell us what is right for us and our bodies.  Sometimes it can be frustrating to look in the mirror and not see what we think we should see.

Well, listen up ladies because I'm here to tell you that what you see is beautiful!  You can look your best in all types of skirts and dresses.

Usually, clothing in retail stores is made for the masses.  That means they have to look presentable on a variety of body types.  This can leave us with a not-so-satisfied feeling in the dressing room and wondering why this dress doesn't fit me the way we think it should.

Our business is custom made women's clothing and with that comes a vast knowledge of dress sizes, measurements, and women's bodies.  One thing we hear all the time that makes us cringe is "I can't wear that type of garment because _____." To capture the versatility of the Chloe Wool Eyelet I've put together two different looks.  One is a causal afternoon look and the second an office to dinner look.  I love how this fabric can pull each off so effortlessly!

I combined the eyelet with a plaid jacket in similar colors to create an interesting dynamic.  Even though both prints are very different they work together so well! The dark blue coat adds a pop of color and keeps you warm.

For the Office to Dinner look I switched out the boots for a pair with a little height and added tights for warmth.  A fur vest over the sweater makes a statement and dresses the outfit up while the crystal necklace gives a little sparkle.  Lastly, add a little color to your lips and your ready to go out!

Trend alert: perfect layers

Hello skirt and dress lovers!  Today's post is going to focus on one of my favorite winter trends: long layers!  With cold weather bringing freezing temperatures nothing feels better than bundling up and staying warm.

One common cold weather myth is that you have to ditch your favorite dresses and skirts for pants.  Not true!  I'm going to show you how to wear your favorite Sevier pieces and still stay warm!  There are so many cozy fabrics in our Sevier library.  Today I will be using our Charlotte's Web fabric in black to show you how to layer your pieces to look chic and stay warm this winter!

The bottom layer keeps your legs and feet warm.  Don't be afraid to mix and match boots, tights and socks.  Adding a pop of colored knee high socks will add an extra layer but also mix up your usual go to tights with boots look!

Look for a high quality leather boot and thick socks.  The leather and fabric will create a barrier between your feet and the cold!

I love this layered look.  The Hunter boots are great for rainy weather!

Try pairing our Charlotte's web pencil with a plaid shirt and pea coat to create a similar look!

For your tops you want to add four separate layers.  A tank, shirt or blouse, sweater, and winter coat.  Make sure your coat is roomy enough to wear a sweater underneath.  Look for one with a little flair!  The shape is ultra flattering for most women and adds an interesting element to your outfit.  This one is an extremely affordable $40 from chicnova.com.

To finish off a cozy winter look dont forget to add some accessories.  This can include a scarf, gloves, or a hat.  My favorite addition is adding a thick textured scarf.  It's chic and functional!

Leather's New Look

Love the look of leather?  So do we!  Sevier Skirt's offers many leather like options like the Lilly Pad Black Leather , Blockbuster Gold, or the Leather Black Sequins.

Last Fall leather became a cool weather staple.  We saw it everywhere ranging from jackets to wrist wear to leggings.  This Fall the trend is still holding strong.  Now, we see it in tops, pants, and skirts.  A new twist this season is the look of textured leather.  Studs, sequins, and applique...we love it all!

Trend Alert! Mod Squad

Hello again!  Remember our last trend report which featured knit wear?  (If you missed it you can catch it here)  Well, we are here to talk about another hot trend this fall:  60's inspired Mod.

As you can see designers take this look to a whole new level, but at Sevier Skirts we like to keep our trends wearable.  We do this by pairing some of our bolder prints with great classic pieces.

Today we are featuring some of our favorite bold prints for the new Fall line:  The Lapis Blue Dot, Alessandra Lurex,and Martinique Blue and Coral.

Try pairing super bold prints with a basic top or scarf to tone down the pattern.

Also, Adding a great structured blazer in a neutral color can really bring that skirt into the office. By removing the blazer you can easily transition to drinks after work!

A Wedding With Sevier Skirts!

We recently talked about easy style and comfort of our casual long skirts in our Maxi skirt post.  What's so great about our Maxi's is that they can be casual or dressy depending on what you pair them with or the fabric you choose.

Today, I want to introduce a friend of ours, Presh Ashe, who chose Sevier Skirts to outfit her Bridesmaids on her wedding day.  Presh used our Marissa Gray fabric paired with a sleeveless white top and a bright red necklace which served as a beautiful pop of color.  The result was stunning!  The Marissa Grey looked beautiful against the natural backdrop of her location.

Maxi Skirts

Let's talk about Maxi skirts.  We love them!  They are absolutely one of the most comfortable pieces you can own.  Slip a printed cotton Maxi on with a basic top and you're effortlessly stylish.  Or dress it up with some statement jewelry and a great pair of shoes.

Fall Trunk Shows...What to Expect!

Good afternoon skirt and dress lovers!  As we head towards the Fall season (and the Holidays!!) you will be seeing some exciting new things at upcoming trunk shows and parties.  First, our new Sevier Dresses will be available to order!  Yay!  We are so excited about this!  Second, an entire rack of new Fall fabrics.  Third, a new way to save money as well as new sample garments at each trunk show or party.
