101 Fashion Tips YOU should know!

There's nothing wrong with keeping yourself up to date on fashion tips, how-to's and maintenance.  You can save yourself from a bad trend as well as lengthen the life of your garments.   I stumbled upon this gem of 101 Fashion Tips and today I am going to share the tips that I picked up!

To save you some time, I weeded out the bad like tip #54. Chic up a sporty puffer vest by cinching the waist with a skinny belt; ladies DO. NOT. DO. THIS. EVER.  If you're going to go puffy, go puffy.

The following are my favorites...

100. Use white wine to remove red wine stains.

96. “Remove white deodorant marks from a garment by gently rubbing the protective foam used on hangers against the fabric.”

84. "Dressy occasions aren’t the time to play with trends, so know your silhouette and stick to it to always look your best. Perfect example: Sofia Vergara knows she looks good in mermaid dresses, and always chooses variations of the shape on red carpets."

83. “Never put a garment on immediately after ironing, as this can actually cause new wrinkles to form. Instead, let it sit for five minutes to set the press.” — Althea Harper, Designer and Rowenta Brand Ambassador

80.  "If you get wax on a piece of clothing, layer wax paper over the hardened wax and then run an iron over it to loosen it up. Once you pull off the paper, the wax should come right out with it."

66. "Due to its high level of surfactants, Dawn dish detergent is especially successful at removing grease and oil stains from clothing."

58. “To remove watermarks from leather boots, add a few drops of vinegar to a bowl of cool water and scrub the stains with a soft bristle brush until stains are no longer visible. Let dry overnight.” — Daryl Carr, Marketing Coordinator, Stetson

 46.  "Ideally, a pencil skirt should hit just at the top of your knee. Any lower and it will start to shorten your leg."

44.  "Still look chic while showing some skin: If you’re wearing a miniskirt or shorts, cover up on top. If your top is skimpy, go for full-coverage bottoms."

36.  "V-neck sweaters and tees give the illusion of a longer torso"

33.  “Hoop earrings are a classic style that every woman—regardless of age—should have, but the type depends on your face. If you have a thin face, go for larger round or embellished hoops. If you have a round face an elongated hoop or drop style is best.”

31. "Looking for an easy trick to make your bare legs look longer? Try nude-colored pumps. Dark shoes make your legs look shorter, but light-toned versions give the illusion that they extend a few extra inches."

27. “It’s a myth that loose styles flatter a large bust or a plus-size woman. The area just under the bust is a woman’s smallest torso measurement, so emphasizing it with a structured waistband that hits higher than your natural waist will make you look a size smaller. —BG Krishnan, President, eShakti.com

25.  "A modern trick to looking like the most effortlessly stylish girl in the room: Pair dressy bottoms (a velvet maxi, a leather or beaded skirt, silk pants) with a worn gray crew-neck sweatshirt or T-shirt."

10. "Wear your new real leather jacket in the rain to break it in. Water will soften up the leather and allow it to stretch and crease at specific points on your body."

8. Use a lemon wedge to remove excess or streaky self-tanner.

2. To coax a loose thread back into place, gently tug at the stitches to the sides of the pull as well as above and below.

1. There’s nothing cooler than sticking to a signature style you know looks good on you. Slaves to fashion are never chic!

SOW:Antonio Embroidery

There's nothing like a LBD(Little Black Skirt) to have in your closet for your favorite go-to.  No matter the occasion, you know you can confidently throw her on and dazzle.  Never trendy, and always in style.  That is what I had in mind for the skirt of the week.  This week, take off 20% for your new staple piece in your wardrobe, the Antonio Embroidery!

The Antonio is our beautifully embroidered Italian fabric.  This stonewash color is a nice take on black with a little flare.  The white embroidered tiny circles run horizontally in a pencil and classic and diagonally in a swing like the picture below.
Sevier Skirts
There's no need to name what one can wear with this number.  It all goes with black!  Above, I have a casual Friday outfit with a sleeveless green blouse and black sandals.  Throw a belt around your waist to dress her up, or leave her untucked and unbelted for an effortless look!

Sevier Contest: YOU name this season's skirt!

Happy Friday ladies!!!!  To start this weekend off with a kick we are doing something we have never done before!  Ok, that was a little dramatic, but true none the less.  Its time for you, our insanely creative customers, to make your mark on Sevier Skirts and name one of our favorites for this upcoming season.

During the photo shoot this week, I asked the name of this zig-zag.  Mary told me we hadn't come up with anything yet and were still thinking on it.  I thought, why not let our ladies decide?  So thats exactly what we're doing!  Your choice, let the input begin!
There are no rules for this.  You can name it anything from a color, to a print, to your little girl-anything goes!

To give you a little info, this skirt is a medium weight woven blend with light sheen to it containing blue, green, red, pink, black, teal, yellow, and white.
Do you want to leave your mark on Sevier?  Write in your favorite name for this number in the comment box or tell your sales rep.  There is no limit to the number of times you can write in!  I can't wait to see what you come up with!

I will announce the name next Friday so get your picks in!

Fall Line Preview!!

Yesterday the skirt girls had the beginning of the Fall Photoshoot for our new line.  To Shadowbrook they went to get a Fall-feel shoot in the dead of Summer.
I told the girls I would stop by IF and only if there would be a bear skin rug hung on the wall.  Boy did they deliver!!!
Shadowbrook was gorgeous to say the least.  Built in 1929, the estate was designed to be rustic and modeled after castles in the "Highlands of Scotland".  The ivy that surrounds the perimeter was transplanted from Edinburgh Castle.   Shadowbrook is a family run business where you can enjoy fine dining or entertain with a party or wedding...or to have a Sevier Skirts photo shoot!
The models we picked for this shoot are all new to us!  They didn't complain once when we dressed them in wool and sent them out in the 95 degree humid weather.  They were wonderful!
Rachael did an amazing job styling the models, as always.  I'm thinking she needs to start her own styling biz on the side?  What do you think?!
There were so many different nooks in the mansion to snap photos.  On one of the outside porches, this mint green wall with large logs was a great look!

I swear Mary Allen could talk to a wall...or in this case a knight in rusted armor :)
For this look, the girls turned up the heat in faux leather and animal print.
YOW-ZA.
Who else would lead the photo shoot than our go-to Sevier photographer Kiki?  Always a pleasure to hang with this cool momma for the day!
I'm predicting this skirt is going to be a top seller this season!  So many colors, and the fabric is very luxe with a hint of sheen.
For a subtle earthy look, go for our neutral shot with warm lavender.
This was my favorite look of the day!  Hot pink blouse with electric teal/black wool: Knock-Out number.

Thats a wrap-with our new Blockbuster in gold!

I'm getting excited for fall!  How about you?!

SOW: Wild Side Lavender!

Stand out at the office in something other than gray and black this year.  Pick up today's Skirt of the Week: Wild Side Lavender, and get noticed for that promotion!

The Wild Side is a medium weight polyester that is great for all year round.  This skirt has great structure to it making it perfect for a classic or pencil silhouette.  With this "wild" print, make sure to keep it professional for the office with a length no more than one and half inches above the knee.
Workin' Girl
I picked this wrap gray blouse to go with the Wild Side.  A shirt with an attached belt/tie makes it easy for your to get dressed in the morning with no belt decisions to make.  To finish off the look, I wanted a bold structured item so I went for a well tailored black blazer and then a muted look for your stems with nude heels.

Style Tip:  When dressing for the office, propriety is of the utmost importance!  The number one factor in work appropriate garb?  FABRIC!!!!!  Depending on the work place, keep shiny-silky looking fabrics for your going out clothes.  If it looks like the same fabric as your negligee, don't wear it to your nine to five!  I like the Wild Side for work because of the matte fabric and soft lavender.

Summer Love: Floral & White!

If you're a woman who plays by the rules, your time for wearing white is nearing its end.  September 3rd, day after Labor Day, will have you packing up your favorite bottoms so get your use out of them now!  My favorite way to wear white in the summer?  Why with a floral, of course...
Floral & White
Keep it sassy with Betsey Johnson wedges, or classy with a Dolce and Gabbana blouse.  Flirty with a floral peplum top, or casual with a Liberty of London button down.  You can't go wrong with a great white skirt like the Naomi White to finish the look off.  This outfit has me thinking of a garden party with the girls.

My personal favorite?  I like a floral lightweight blouse with the sleeves rolled up.  Either belt it at the waist with the tales hanging untucked, or no belt and tie the tales up with a center knot for a girl next door look.  I want the white skirt in a pencil so my tan legs are glowing against the contrast!  Hair in a high bun gives you an effortless, thrown together look.

Whats your favorite white skirt outfit?  Wear it out this weekend!

Get Your Summer Shine!

What can I say about todays post?  I like a good tan, who doesn't?  This summer, let your legs shine in my favorite skirts to wear with a golden glow!
SEVIER TAN

Crisp white of the Kearney, soft yellow with the Barton and shining sequins of the Mimi, look dynamite with a good tan.  Can't make it to the beach? No need to catch the rays when safe tanning is available!  Above are a few of my favorites!
From top to bottom:

Style Tip:  For a hot night-time look, don't forget your lips.  Tan skin, red lips-YES.
