What's a Tweed Exactly??!

Fashion inspires fashion, so today I headed over to one of my favorite lifestyle blogs, Cupcakes  & Cashmere, to pick her brain or her blog rather for some fashion envy posts.  Living in the skirt world, I love to see how others are wearing their favorite non-bifurcated (two legs) garments.  Her tweed and stripes outfit caught my eye...
For a speckle wool look, check out the Speckle Wool Tweed!
So what is a tweed exactly?  A tweed is a smooth wool with a homespun appearance.   The interesting color effect is made by twisting together multiple colored woolen strands.  Tweed is not a pattern, like a herringbone, though it is often woven into like patterns.
I love the contrast of the pink belt and yellow skirt.  Below, arrow over to check out the three looks I put together with the Amethyst Wool Tweed, Canary Wool Tweed and the Saffron Silk Tweed with complimentary stripes top.

Sevier Skirts favorite tweeds have a soft luxurious feel.  For a warm wool, they are light to medium in their weight.

Above I have three stripes and tweed looks with different accessories to match.

I paired the Amethyst Wool with its complimentary color: yellow.  These colors are made for each other so pair 'em up any time!  For a casual business look, go for comfortable cheetah flats, brown belt and classic trench.

For the Saffron Silk, I went with a fresh mint to contrast the warm orange.  Throw on riding boots for a casually put together look.

Lastly, I have the Canary Wool Tweed.  Again, yellow and purple are complimentary colors so I went a little outside the purple lines with this cranberry number to set the yellow off.  A red belt is a fun way to tie in the cranberry.  Throw on pumps and you've got another great business casual look!

SOW: Moxie Floral White

Happy Monday!  I hope you all had a fabulous weekend!  With beautiful weather and a Bob Dylan concert mine wasn't so bad ;)  To carry on from last weeks sale, lets start this week off with a good deal.  I picked the Moxie Floral White as our SOW.

This lightweight white cotton will be good Spring thru early Fall.  With every color in the rainbow, you will have no trouble outfitting this bright number!  This skirt is available in all three styles.  My pick is a swing!
Sevier Skirts Moxie!

For everyday wear, pick out a bright Michael Stars top.  Any color will do!  Above, I kicked it up a notch with a good date night look.  Perfect for a boardwalk date on your next beach vacation.  You don't have to wear heels to standout in this skirt.  I love pop color sandals with all three styles of skirts!

SOW:Pop Candy Floral Warm Gray!!

One of our newest, The Pop Candy Floral Warm Gray will kick off Monday as our Skirt of the Week!  Take 20% off this skirt, this week only.

This is a lightweight cotton good Spring thru early Fall.  This skirt has a great sleek feel to it, giving it that extra flair.  The Pop Candy is available in all three styles.  I recommend a swing in this number!
SOW:Pop Candy Floral
I picked this skirt to be our SOW for the wide color range it offers.  From black to blue to brown and every color in between, anything goes with the Pop Candy Floral Warm Gray.  The outfit above is perfect for a Summer date.  I went with a flowing off-white blouse.  For Summer, roll up the sleeves!  When wearing a swing, you need a little structure to the top half.  You can still go with a blouse just make sure to show off your figure with a fitted belt around your waist.  To bring color to your top half, add a bright statement necklace.

No need to break the bank to look like a million.  The top in this outfit is H&M and the bag is Target!

SOW:Gingham Silver Sequins!

Morning Ladies!  Hope everyone had a fabulous Mother's Day and got some great DIY gifts from your little ones.  I got a painted rock (I'm not a mom, but my nieces were feeling generous)!

With Mother's Day over, I want to direct our attention back to the beauty of casual attire.  I love to dress up, but nothing beats effortless fashion.  With that being said, I wanted the SOW to be a skirt you can wear with any solid shirt.  I was thinking something to wear to back yard bbq's or an out door concert.  The perfect fit was the Gingham Silver Sequins!

The Gingham Silver Sequins is a light weight cotton base with a light gray and white gingham pattern.  The circular stitching upon the Gingham Sequins is highlighted with matte silver sequins.  This skirt is available in every style.  A Swing is my favorite pick for this skirt!
SOW:Gingham Silver
Above I have an outfit perfect for a casual night out.  You can wear any color with this skirt that you would black meaning the options are limitless.  I personally love a good pop so I went with this red flouncy sleeveless top.  When you are wearing a full shirt, I suggest a belt around your natural waist.  Otherwise, you might look frumpy.  A belt shows off your feminine figure and gives you your waist back.  Have a very square torso with no curves?  This trick gives the illusion of curves.

I specifically picked this skirt for its effortless look.  The easiest way to dress it is with any color Michael Stars top!

Last thing.  Notice the purse?  Its made of cork!  I don't know how its done, but you will be seeing a lot of cork bags this Spring.  I love them!

Color Me Yellow!

Color me yellow because monochromatic is in!  A trend you will soon see hitting the streets is one color head to toe.  To jump into this trend I didn't want fierce, I wanted cheer and Spring.  Whats cheerier than yellow?!

I like the monochromatic look for two reasons.  First, its easy.   Your hues don't have to match so pick one item texture, one item print, and one item solid all in the same color and you have one heck of a look.  For example, my texture is the Sorority Eyelet Yellow.  My Print is the Seychelles heels and my solid is the Karen Millen yellow top.

Second, one color head to toe is slimming.  The look isn't broken up by different colors so you appear elongated which is always a good thing!
Color Me Yellow!
Want a bold look?  Wear all the items above.  Want to dip your toe into this trend before diving in?  Thats cool too, just pick a few pieces above to pair together.  For example, Take the Sorority Eyelet Yellow Skirt with the Envelope Clutch, Tory Burch Phone Case, Kate Spade Earrings and the Seychelles Shoes.  Now top this look off with a solid white shirt.

How far are you going to take the trend?  Head to toe, or splashes here and there?  The choice is up to you!
