One Skirt,Three Ways!!

A new batch of skirts gives me all new outfits to create, making me one happy blogger.  On this Fab Friday, I’d like to introduce you to one of our newest: Liberty Clarissa Denim!

This is the perfect, go-to Spring skirt.  From our Liberty of London collection, this floral motif ranges from bright yellow to light pink against a blue back drop.  These are wonderfully subtle colors, giving you plenty of option tops to pair with this number.  Below, I have the Clarissa styled three ways...
One Skirt//Three Ways
Look # 1: The Weekender
Cute, comfy and practical were my targets for this look.  Pair the Clarissa with a loose-fit tunic and oversized cardigan for a chic boho look.  Keeping with comfort, I  went with Toms for your feet!

Look #2: The Ladies Night
Round up your favorite girls and a feisty outfit!  I took this look a little darker with the crimson top and navy booties.  Layer the bangles up on for a little movement in your outfit.

Look #3: The Office
This is a great skirt for the office.  You can wear any color solid and be good to go with a blazer or cardigan.

Monochrome Mixed Prints!

Mixed prints can be intimidating.  In your head they’re a good idea.  Then you have your outfit on, and it’s a whole lot of look, maybe more than you were going for.  The next time you want to mix it up (pun intended), try it in monochrome!
Monochrome Mixed Prints
From Left:
Wild Side, Jungle Fever, Coco Dots Red
To begin, start with neutral colors like beige and gray.  It doesn’t even have to have a print to bring interest to your outfit.  Take the quilted beige jacket for instance.  This jacket gives another dimension to the outfit without adding another print.  Want a daring effect?  Go with a daring color, like red.

Have fun with it!

SOW: Game Day Edition!

When it comes to school spirit, there is only one team I know that is represented by a print.  Houndstooth, Bear Bryant and Alabama football go hand in hand, making the Knit Houndstooth Black and White our Skirt of the Week, and your go-to game day skirt!  If you yell "Roll Tide", this is the skirt for you!

This Knit Houndstooth is as comfortable as it is attractive.  This soft medium weight knit drapes beautifully making this a great swing style skirt.  This fabric is good for all body types, hugging in the right places with the bias cut and draping where necessary.

For the Crimson Tide fans, I went with a crimson color palette.  Houndstooth skirt with the Drape Neck Michael Stars top, crimson coat and black boots.  Easy outfit, classic look.

For those that don't cheer for 'Bama, this skirt works with every color imaginable.  I love black and brown together as you can see below.  I went with the always flattering hue, coral, to add a pop of color to this outfit.

Mix it up!
Here is one of our own, Courtney Skeen, outfitting the Houndstooth with navy...

How will you dress this print?!

SOW: French Brushed Wool Brown!

We all love our LBD's and LBS(Little Black Skirts), but what about our other LBS?  Show some love for one of my favorite hues: brown, in a Little Brown Skirt.  This week's highlighted skirt is the French Brushed Wool Brown!

From our favorite Parisian mill, the French Brushed Wool is a soft felted wool in a perfect medium weight fabric.  You can have this skirt made up in all three styles.  Below I have the swing and classic represented.  My favorite pick?  CLASSIC!!  This is a classic skirt to be worn to work, church, play, parent duties and beyond.  For that reason, pick the most versatile, in my opinion, of styles!
SOW: French Wool
If you want to keep this look classic, pair with heels and a Michael Stars or 3Dot top.  Want to have fun with it?  Choose one of the looks above like a printed blouse or a casual tee with a unique stripe print.  I love black and brown together.  In fact it is one of my favorite color combos.  For that reason I went with black riding boots.  If you go with black and brown together, you MUST keep the accessories the same color.  Boots, bag, jacket, and belt must all be the same color!!  Other than that, its pretty simple.

Add a fun pop with a monochrome matching color watch like the coral time piece I have above.  Combined with the coral stripes you are tying this look together!

My Favorite Boot!

I've said it before, I'll say it again.  Boots are my favorite skirt accessory, hands down.
My favorite style of boot?  Easy- knee highs.  Short, tall, skinny or curvy, these boots look good on all body types!

Below I have a Sevier Skirt montage of our looks with knee high boots.  Check it out!
Knee High Boots
1. Short?  Choose a boot with no horizontal detailing such as straps or hooks or hardware.  Those details will break up your leg.  Pick a boot with a heel to add some height and a clean shaft free of any detailing like look number 1!  Over the knee boots will also make you look shorter, so keep the height right below your knee.

2.  Dress up your look with a stiletto heel.  Not only will this give you extra height, it also classes up any outfit.

3. Go casual with a slouchy boot with no heel.  Not only are these boots comfortable, they're also flattering.  My calves are non-existent making my thighs disproportionately bigger.  With slouchy boots covering up my lower leg, it evens out the weight of my leg actually making my thighs appear slimmer.   Gotta love that!
