Fabric, Fabric, and More Fabric!

One of the events I look forward to most in the Spring, beside the kick-off of a new season, is the cross country trip I make out to Los Angeles for the LA Textile Market. Now don't get me wrong, the short trip paired with the long travel time is taxing to say the least- but it is always worth it to see what the fabric mills will be offering a for Spring 2016.

You might be thinking, "How can you even think about what fabric to buy for next Spring, when this Spring hasn't even really begun?!" Well, it isn't easy, but that's not to say it isn't exciting to think about future collections for you.
This year, I got to spend the night before the fabric show with my dear friend Polly who recently moved to LA. Even though it was raining like crazy when I arrived at 11pm, we were able to catch up on the past couple of months, and talk about what this Spring had in store for each of us. The visit was short, but it was also the perfect way to spend the night before shopping for Sevier's Next Most Popular Fabric.
In the morning, I walked down the street from Polly's apartment to the Bronzed Aussie. There, I grabbed a delicious latte and a protein-filled Brekkie-Pie to fuel me for my day. I would highly recommend it if you ever find yourself in downtown LA and need a quick breakfast.

With a full belly, I walked a few blocks to the convention center for LA Textile Market. Through the front doors, I was greeted by table after table of fabrics on display: so many beautiful, vibrant spring fabrics! With only 4 hours to work, before making my airport run, I knew I had to quickly get my head in the game, find some inspiration, and then make way up to the Penthouse Floor to visit all the booths.

(Deep Indigo is always flattering and easy to pair.)

(Bright Blue and Aqua look like they will be a popular color for 2016.)

Inspiration was not hard to find with all the fabric displays. And the vendors did not disappoint with their offerings for Spring 2016.
In case you were worried, I made it to all my appointments, even found some new vendors, and didn't miss my flight out of the city! It was a whirl wind of a show- as LA always is, but I found some really beautiful things that you are going to love next Spring. Until then, I hope you are enjoying this Spring's Collection! Let me know which fabrics you love the most, and I will be sure to try and put some similar things on the line for next Spring.

I will leave you with a few more shots of the inspiration tables as a teaser until Spring 2016!

(Don't worry I will not be buying any of that fluffy magenta fabric.)

(Corals and Pinks are always a Sevier Staple for the warmer months.)

(Absolutely LOVING this neutral sequin!)

Trend alert: dressing down formal wear

I love buying a new piece to wear to a special occasion.  It feels so good knowing that I have a new stylish outfit that makes me feel confident and fabulous for that specific event.  However, one of the problems I face is that afterwards that piece either sits in my closet forever or is worn a couple more times until it sits in my closet forever.  Lucky for me (and you who know what I'm talking about!) is that it is currently trendy to dress down evening wear or more formal pieces.  This has given my closet new life!  Here are some of my favorite ways to wear this trend using Sevier Skirts that are often purchased for special occasions:

Guilded Age

We took our Gilded Age skirt, which has both silver and gold threading and paired it with low key separates.  This would be perfect for lunch by the water or strolling local shopping spots.  We added a breezy chambray button down and a long crisp white cardi with braided sandals and a coral fedora.  For an extra laid back vibe we included a boho drawstring bag and a side braid.

Lucia Leather

To me, one of the hardest things to do is to create a day look with a black leather skirt.  But I've learned that with the right pairings and accessories a leather skirt can look just as casual as your favorite pair of jeans.  We paired our Lucia Leather skirt with a peach tee and tied it up to create that relaxed look we're going for.  We also included a matching lightweight scarf and white sandals.  For an extra pop of color and to keep with the trends we included a bright blue mini cross body bag.  Keep your hair simple with a bun or natural texture.

Collette Floral

After a long week it's time to relax and give ourselves a little me time.  We paired one of our favorite formal skirts, the Collette Floral Embroidery, with simple separates like a bright white tank and light gray Kimono.  We also included our  glasses for reading our favorite book and simple dark blue lounge sandals.  If we even make it out of the house that day we will take our light blue bamboo handle bag with us along with a to go cup of green tea!

Celebrating New Beginnings With Pastels

Easter is quickly approaching and along with that comes celebration with friends and family.  This Spring holiday is all about new beginnings in our own lives as well as the world around us and the color choices of this season reflect that.  Pastel colors seem to be a staple, so show off your favorite hues by pairing them with a Sevier Skirt! We've chosen the Cathedral to pair with a beautiful range of orange and aqua pastels.  Check out some other posts that feature the Cathedral Skirt here and here!

Sevier Skirts and Turkish- T

Earlier this week we posted about the versatility of our product and transforming typically fall fabrics into looks that are perfectly in line with this season's Spring trends.  It is so much fun trying different looks with our favorite Sevier Skirts!
That is why we are so excited to pair up with another Nashville company, Turkish-T, to showcase how versatile both are products are and how amazing they look together!
If you haven't checked out Turkish-T yet, you can do it here.  They are all about creating a product that has many end uses, much like Sevier Skirts.  Their Ts come in a variety of colors and sizes.  For our purposes we used them as scarves, but they can just as easily be used as towels, blankets, table cloths, you name it.

Here are some of our favorite looks...

See how easy it is to pair colors textures and even patterns to create a whole new look!
We had such a great time working with Turkish-T.  If you want to learn more about their company check out their website at http://www.turkish-t.com/

All About Options

Owning a Sevier Skirt means having options when it comes to your wardrobe.  We love to mix and match pattern, texture, and color to create a look that is all our own!  Many of our fabrics offer a wide range of versatility and can be worn from day to night or from season to season.  (Check out how we do it here!)  One of our favorite tricks is using our Fall fabric line to create looks that are perfectly in tune with Spring trends. By adding a pop of Spring color or bright accessories a typical fall skirt can be transformed for a new season!

Here are three of our favorite season to season looks:

One great thing about many fall fabrics is their neutral color pallet.  This makes them easy to dress for a new season. The warm puddy color of the Marissa Gray is paired with bright sandals and a sleeveless eyelet to transition into warmer weather.

We paired our Cathedral Skirt with bright pops of color to create a fun weekend look.  Add your favorite pair of sunglasses and you are ready for the sun and shade!

This skirt looks amazing with all different shades of blue.  We always love pairing it with a chambray button down, but try it with a bright aqua or turquoise for a great warm weather look!

The importance of creating a product that can be worn multiple times to many different occasions is one of our highest priorities.  If you have any questions about styling a skirt or what to share with us how creative you can be with your own Sevier Skirt we would love to hear from you!

Skirt Of The Week: Blossom Eyelet

Happy St. Paddys Day!  What are you all doing to celebrate this holiday?  Here at Sevier Skirts we are celebrating by offering our customers and blog readers a new skirt of the week!  This week we are featuring the Blossom Eyelet in Crimson.  This fun and flirty three dimensional floral eyelet is a bright coral cotton base giving this skirt endless possibilities for outfits and occasions. We love it in all the styles, but as a swing the drape of the style adds to the movement created by the three dimensional flowers.

This skirt is available online for 20% off it's original price today through Sunday the 23rd.

Sevier Skirts Goes To Paris

With the recent excitement and buzz centered around Paris Fashion Week we wanted to share our own Paris story with you today.  Our main company mission is to provide our customers with the highest quality novelty fabrics we can find.  Most of the time this mission leads us around the U.S. to visit markets and different textile shows, but occasionally it sends us overseas to the mecca of high fashion and quality fabrics.  Last week, we were given the opportunity to travel to Paris, France in search of beautiful European fabrics to bring back to Nashville, Tn.  Being our second trip to Premiere Vision trade show, we were excited about what we would find once we arrived in Paris.

(Photo details: airline ticket, Paris city map...pushpin indicates where we stayed, Premier info booklet and Pass)

We left on Monday and arrived back in the states Thursday afternoon.  A VERY quick trip to say the least, but during our flights and minimal downtime we were able to reflect on the purpose of the trip and the Sevier Skirt mission.  Why have we traveled across the world, what is the purpose of this trip?  Well, it's for you all!  We know that Premier Vision offers the highest quality novelty fabrics on the market.  Fabrics that are not available in stores and we want our customers to have access to that type of quality and uniqueness.

(Photo details: Mary Allen looking through our new Spring 2015 fabrics from Paris)

Representing our company and our customers is very important to us when traveling to any textile show.  While in Paris we paired our personal favorite Sevier Skirts with tops and accessories to fit the occasion.  We wanted vendors to get a sense of our brand and the types of fabrics we were looking for.
