Mother of Pearl

The beautiful weather this weekend, left me inspired to create a Spring outfit.  I needed the perfect skirt to go with pastel colors.  The Mother of Pearl was the first thing that popped in my head.  So with that, we offer you 20% off the Mother of Pearl this week!

The Mother of Pearl fabric is extremely unique.  This skirt isn't lace, and it isn't an eyelet.  It is a netted ivory base with medium scale polka dot motif that has a slight iridescent sheen giving this skirt a little shine!  This overlay rests on a light weight ivory cotton and finished in a silk ivory lining.

I find ivory to be such an underestimated color.  It is so versatile.  I know what you're thinking, 'its basically off-white, of course it's versatile'.  I find ivory more versatile than white because it can be worn all year round.  Do you want to wear white when you are pale as paper in February?  Probably not.

To outfit the Mother of Pearl, I thought to myself, ' what would I wear on Easter Sunday?'  I then started searching for pastel blouses.  Nice, flowing tops that you can tuck into the skirt or leave untucked with a belt wrapped around.  Any color will do: pinks, yellows, purples, oranges, reds, greens, aquas, blues etc.  I went for this teal blouse with yellow egg like shapes on it.  When wearing in the winter, go for a dark contrast top like black to pair with it.

Keep your handbag and shoes neutral, and spring for a pop of color elsewhere in your outfit.  I picked coral earrings to set this look off!

STYLE TIP:  When wearing a form fitted skirt, opt for a less fitted top like a blouse or a peplum top.  On the other hand, when wearing a swing skirt, keep the top fitted!
