Customer Spotlight!!

Angela in the office in her
Dotted Swirl
This past week Suzanne and I took a trip across town to visit with one of our Sevier Skirt customers, Angela Williamson.  I see the skirts through production, so it was a real treat to see the real women who wear our product.

Angela owns her own real estate title company: Centennial Title Company, Inc.  She also owns her look, if you know what I mean ;)  My first impression of this mother of two, wife, and business owner in three words was professional, unique, and confident.  And that was just by appearance.  We hadn't actually met yet!  Suzanne and I brought Angela a handful of outfits for our mini photo shoot.  Silly us.  Angela was prepared with her own looks that she wears for work, play and on the go.  Here is how Angela wears her Sevier Skirts...

In her "go-to night out" skirt,

Angela calls her Sevier Skirts her "skinny jeans", meaning when she's having a bad day, or not feeling her best, she throws on her Sevier Skirt and she feels slim and confident.  Something about this one of a kind skirt that was made particularly for her, puts a little pep in her step.

Angela has been a customer of ours since 2006, when a client of hers was wearing one of our skirts.  Since then, Sevier Skirts are the only skirts that have made their way to her closet.  In case you can't tell, Angela is a runner.  In fact, after this interview I was inspired to get to the gym ;)  She has a hard time fitting into generic size skirts with her slim torso and muscular legs.  Cue Sevier Skirts custom team!

Why does Angela always look so put together?  Angela does it right by having "go-to" outfits.  This is a great idea for hectic lifestyles.  She has an outfit or at least skirt for every occasion: work, play, errands.  Last minute plans?  Angela's ready for them.

"...Workin' Nine to Five..."

Recently we received a blog request to spotlight our career skirts.  I can't believe I didn't think of this sooner!  Of course you have to go into the office and why shouldn't you look great doing it?  So here we go, lets get to work...
Skirt: Olympia Beige
Top: J.Crew
Jacket: Ann Taylor Loft
Shoes: Nine West
Great Neutral

Black is not the only color in the office now-a-days so my model Mary is showing us how to wear a neutral.  Cream and white look great with this skirt.  If a cream jacket is not for you, pair this look with a black blazer.

Now, lets move on to black.  Break out your black suit jacket and lets put some great looks together!
Skirt: Lei Lei Gray Black
Shirt: J.Crew

This skirt goes great with a black suit jacket for the office.  Ditch the jacket for happy hour and show off a fun blouse.  There is a lot of question about office appropriate.  I say stay away from satin and patent leather (depending on your environment) and you should be fine.

Skirt: Weisbrod Gray
Skirt: Academy Black and White
Shirt: Target
Cardigan: Dillards
Skirt: Willow Branch Black
Top: Target
Skirt: Conductor's Assistant
Top: Target
If you had to have five garments for the office to go with your Sevier Skirt, here is what I would suggest: Black Suit Jacket, White Button Down Blouse, Black Cardigan, Blue Button Down Top, and a Black Top.  You will look professional, and at the same time attractive.  No more changing before going to happy hour or out to dinner :)

Thank you so much for that request!  If you have anything you would like covered, let me know and I will do a blog just for you!

Lightning Bolt Black

This weeks SOW is so favored by the shop that it was originally named The B.A. (The Bad A#%).  I called inappropriate on that (no matter the truth) and we changed it to The Lightning Bolt Black.  I say this to highlight how AWESOME this fabric is.

This skirt is a lightweight cotton.  Because of the color you could get away wearing this year round.  I would call this a 'fun' skirt.  One of our cutters wears this skirt with her rock band tee's and clunky B.A. boots.  Here's Heather rockin' her Lightning Bolt with her Target Rolling Stones Tee and DSW boots...

I think this skirt is crying out for COLOR!  I'm pretty partial to jewel tones so I'm going to pair it with purple and fuchsia.  Here is how I would wear this skirt...
Jersey Knit Scarf
Top: Target
Cardigan: Dillards

Of course there is always my fall back: go neutral with a black top to match the black or gray top to match the appliqué...
Top: The Gap
Sweater: Ya
Top: Target

Take a cue from Heather and head to DSW for some awesome boots.  DSW has great prices.  Its the perfect place to experiment with shoes that you love, but wouldn't usually pick out for yourself.  I would go clunky, and high!  Have fun with it :)

Pinterest!

Time for another "...these are a few of my favorite things..."
Alright ladies, time to introduce you to your new favorite past time.  I'm talking about a little online site called Pinterest. If your already signed up for Pinterest, I bet your on it right now.  If you aren't then clear your schedules because you are about to spend some unplanned time glued to your computer.

Pinterest is an online pinboard.  It lets you organize and share things you love.  What things Christina?  I'm glad you asked.  You can find recipes, fashion, home decor, workouts, quotes, travel destinations, books, DIY (do it yourself) ideas and more.  My good friend is planning her wedding by Pinterest ideas alone.  Here are some pins that I have on Pinterest...
Not clear yet?  Okay, so you go on Pinterest and download the 'Pin It' button to your computers toolbar.  Next you peruse the Internet.  Anytime you see something you like, be it a belt from The Gap, a living room setup in Pottery Barn, a unique 'Save the Date' card, a fun craft project for your children, or a recipe from Martha Stewart, you click 'Pin It' on your tool bar and it will appear on your Pinterest.  Now your friends will be able to see what you like and in turn, you can see what your friends like.  When you click on a picture you like in Pinterest, it shoots you over to the site it came from and explains how to make the recipe, or do the craft etc.  It's basically an online idea board.

There is a catch.  You have to be invited by a member already on Pinterest.  I just so happen to be such a member and would be happy to invite you on.  Leave your email on the comments list and follow my boards on Pinterest.  Feel free to 'repin' anything you would like.  Don't know what 'repin' means?  Well leave your email, sign up for Pinterest and find out :)

The 'Little Black Skirt'

It's Thursday night and your husband calls to tell you his boss is coming for dinner. Problem: You have nothing to cook.  Bigger problem: you have nothing to wear.  Cue the 'Little Black Skirt' and then call take out.

Scalloped Lace on Black
"The Classic LBS"

The perfect alternative for when your 'little black dress' just won't do.  I've picked a few skirts from the Sevier Skirt collection that are classics.  Dress them up, or dress them down.  From t-shirt and boots to blouse and heels, these are sure to work for any occasion.

One skirt for one person may not work for another, so I picked a few skirts depending on what your looking for.

Sow: Railroad Eyelet Blue

So before this week, the weather in Nashville has been unseasonably warm.  I prematurely got in the Spring spirit and jumped the gun in picking this weeks SOW.  Then it snowed this weekend.  Instead of changing it up, I have faith in Mother Nature that this cold front will move on soon enough so Im sticking with the Rail Road Eyelet Blue for our skirt of the week!  The way I see it, by the time you order your skirt and it is shipped to you it will be warm again...fingers crossed!  Im going to recommend this skirt in a swing. This is going to be your summer go to skirt.
I LOVE this skirt!  And I've got to tell you, I never batted an eye at it until I started picking out outfits for it.  This skirt goes with everything! Well...almost everything, lets not get carried away with a sequined top ;)  But besides your formal wear, you can treat this skirt as your favorite pair of blue jeans and pair it with whatever top you would wear with them.  Don't be afraid to put color with this look.  Here I put a green top with blue stitching and a peplum with it.  The top is a Ya top.  If you don't know this company, you need to.  Very cute and trendy, very affordable.

Ya Top

Alternative Apparel Wrap Cardigan

If this color is too much for you, no big deal.  My favorite look with this skirt is with your blue jean jacket, and a light scarf.  I know all of you have a blue jean jacket out there.  The scarf I chose is a light weight scarf from Pangea.  A scarf is a great way to add color if you want to stay away from a colored top. I would wear this skirt spring, summer and fall so I would keep mostly light weight accessories (jackets, scarves, etc.) with it.  Pair this with a casual pair of brown riding boots and call it a day.

For summer time, keep it simple with a light weight sleeveless blouse.  Pair it with sandals and enjoy! And for the Fall, wear a simple white long sleeve with your orange and blue Auburn Scarf.  War Eagle!

Valentines Day

V-Day is coming up this Tuesday and whether your celebrating with your beaux, or my favorite, with your girlfriends, you'll need something to wear and somewhere to go. Here are a few ideas to get you going:
Option A: Date Night with the Beau

Bronze Coin with
Rodente Sheer Top
Oscar Red Leopard with
Walmart Miley Cyrus Top
Rusty Black Belt

Somewhere new for your romantic rendevouz? Southern Living picked MacK & Kate's Cafe in Franklin, as a top seven restaurant in Nashville to try. Described as 'Urban Country', you wont be disappointed if comfort food is your thing.

Also, voted best new restaurant in Nashville, try The Wild Hare in West Nashville. The Wild Hare has something for everyone: pizza, sandwiches, steaks, salads and interesting starters like beer battered fried mushrooms.

Purple Navaho Skirt
Betsey Johnson Top
Option B: Date night with the girls
Platinum Coin Skirt
Target Top
Rusty Belt
Velvet Leopard Skirt
Anthropologie Top

My personal favorite way to spend V-Day. With the girls. Go to The Family Wash in East Nashville. Cozy. Funky. Live Music. If you like eclectic hole in the walls, this is your new favorite place. Trust me.

Looking for something more chic? Try Suzy Wong's House of Yum Whatever you do, don't leave here without getting the BBQ Nachos.

Ann Taylor Loft Top

Wrap up the night with Sweet Cece's. Located in Hillsboro Village, The Gulch, West End, and Green Hills. Self served frozen yogurt? Yes please. It just so happens that V-Day falls on double punch Tuesday.

Option C: Hate night with yourself

Ok, we've all been there. Don't want to celebrate? Here's what I've got for all you lonely hearts: You. Neighborhood bar. Pitcher of your favorite drinky drink. Picture of your least favorite boyfriend. Dart board. See where Im going with this?

Whatever you end up doing, I hope its great! Leave a post of your V-day plans, I'd love to hear them.
