How to Wear Plaid this Winter!

Give me a plaid and I’m a happy girl.  Give me a plaid with flannel and I’m in love.  Lucky for me, flannel plaid is in and it’s not just for lumberjacks and jeans these days.  How do you wear plaid?  Here’s how I do it...
How do you wear plaid?
Plaid is a pattern, no question there.  It’s a neutral pattern and perfect for mixed prints for those that are mixed print shy.  Here I have a plaid with the Rose Wool Black and Blue.  I love the blue in this skirt, it pops!  Pair with black tights down to a pair of black wedge booties.  The effect is casual-chic, especially with a clutch.

I love this outfit for the weekend!  Speaking of, have a great one and I’ll see you back here on Monday!

SOW: Liberty Lovely Lady Cord!!

Y’all today’s high is 14 degrees with a low of two.  Two degrees in Nashville, TN. I did NOT move here for this!  In leu of this weather, I went with Sevier’s coziest outfit to date with our Skirt of the Week: Liberty Lovely Lady Cord!

This micro wale cord will keep you warm this winter and lookin’ good to boot.  This number comes in all three styles.  See her below in the Swing!
Sevier
My challenge this week is to make UGG’s not only comfortable, but attractive.  I picked this cute pair of booties to go with the Lovely Lady and am in love with the results!  The gloves are UGG’s as well.

Now to break this outfit down one cozy piece at a time:
1. Cashmere Cardigan- Find your go-to cashmere.  I like this understated camel cardigan from J.Crew.
 2. Cable Knit Scarf-Match up your sweater with a like color scarf!
3. Bright Knit Sweater-to brighten up these cold winter days!
4. Liberty Lovely Lady Cord- Comfy cord to keep out the chill.
5. Leather Gloves-Leather gloves add sophistication to any winter look.  Have fun with them and pick a color!
6. UGG Booties-You don’t have to sacrifice style for comfort.
7. Cable Knit Tights-These are a must on days like today!
8. Wool Throw-Curl up on your couch with a wool blanket and a hot drink.
9. Hot Drink- Give me a black tea or strong coffee on this 2 degree day!

FUN FACT:  UGG’s started as shoes for surfers.  After coming out of the surf in the winter, they strip off their water booties and slip on UGG’s because they don’t need to be worn with socks.  Did you know that?  You do now!

My Picks for Your Stems!

Its cold outside; time to put up your skirts and hibernate your legs till Spring.  FALSE!!   Fall and Winter are the only two times a year we get to break out tights, don't miss out! I love tights for two reasons.  1. It's like wearing spanx on the outside.  They keep you tucked in, giving you nice shape to your legs.  2. One more way to accessorize!

If you want to add length to your legs, the trick is wearing the same color tights as your shoes like this...

Below I have some fun, some conservative, and some trendy ways to pair your favorite Sevier Skirts with tights to wear all winter long.
Skirts & Tights
1. Twiggy Wool Plaid: For a fun way to dress up this school girl look, wear a pair of gray lace tights.  Finish this off with gray pumps for the perfectly put together look.

2. Blockbuster Black:  This is a skirt I want to see you in all winter long.  To contrast the tough leather, pair with black polka dot tights for a fun flirty look.

3. Westwood Tweed Teal: Add texture to texture with a tweed and herringbone combo.

4. 007 Sequins Gunmetal:  For a casual sequins look, pair the 007 with cable knit tights, boots and a chambray top.

5. Portland Wool:  For a sophisticated work look with a hint of fun, go with brown and burgundy together.  This warm color palette is perfect for fall.

6. Babzy's Black:  If the skirt you're wearing is dark, lighten up your stems with sheer tights.  Dark black skirts with sheer black tights is a classic look.

Have fun this winter with tights, your legs deserve it!

Color Me Yellow!

Color me yellow because monochromatic is in!  A trend you will soon see hitting the streets is one color head to toe.  To jump into this trend I didn't want fierce, I wanted cheer and Spring.  Whats cheerier than yellow?!

I like the monochromatic look for two reasons.  First, its easy.   Your hues don't have to match so pick one item texture, one item print, and one item solid all in the same color and you have one heck of a look.  For example, my texture is the Sorority Eyelet Yellow.  My Print is the Seychelles heels and my solid is the Karen Millen yellow top.

Second, one color head to toe is slimming.  The look isn't broken up by different colors so you appear elongated which is always a good thing!
Color Me Yellow!
Want a bold look?  Wear all the items above.  Want to dip your toe into this trend before diving in?  Thats cool too, just pick a few pieces above to pair together.  For example, Take the Sorority Eyelet Yellow Skirt with the Envelope Clutch, Tory Burch Phone Case, Kate Spade Earrings and the Seychelles Shoes.  Now top this look off with a solid white shirt.

How far are you going to take the trend?  Head to toe, or splashes here and there?  The choice is up to you!

SOW: Naomi Ivory

This weeks SOW is late, but worth the wait.  When we began our blog, I started off with the Naomi Black as the very first SOW.  Truth be told, the Naomi Ivory was what I had my heart set on for the first one!!  I LOVE the Naomi Ivory! It's so romantic.  The Naomi's are all lightweight crisp cotton, with strips of gathered fabric stitched on top in random curved patterns.
When I look at this skirt, I absolutely have a 'Gone With the Wind'(GWTW) moment every time.  This is the skirt a modern Scarlett O'Hara would have picked.  It is flattering, and feminine.  I would pick this skirt in a Pencil, or A-Line.  I didn't use this skirt for our first SOW due to timing.  Our first SOW was in the winter and the Naomi Ivory is lined in cotton.  Cotton lining and hose don't mix.   They cling to hose.  So I would stick to the warmer months with this one.  Plus, it looks great with a tan!
Naomi
Above are some inspirations for your Naomi Look.  The middle is my favorite so lets start there.  Although I have a Southern GWTW inspiration, this look is very New York to me.  A sharp looking button down black blouse, belted and topped off with a black leather bag.  Rock a gold bangle and your lookin' good in the office and out to dinner after!
To the right is a cute peplum lace top, black heels and a shawl wrap.  Great for a nice evening out.  Break out the pearls for this one!
On the left is a fun colorful number.  I like the print with the Naomi.  You can wear so much with this solid.

Ill leave you with this thought:
Romantic skirt = DATE NIGHT!!!
